Playground Power: Perth’s Best Suburban Playgrounds
Let’s face it, when you’re a kid, playgrounds are a heap of fun and usually play a starring role in the happy memories of our own childhoods. But playgrounds are so much more than simply mucking about. Apart from socialising and keeping kids strong, healthy and active, they allow our children to learn and develop important skills such as balance, hand-eye coordination, sharing and other motor skills. Here at Inspired Homes, we have a huge range of house and land packages in some of the most family-friendly suburbs in Perth. Here is a round-up of just a few of the best suburban playgrounds we know of.
The Vale adventure playground in Aveley must surely be one of the best we’ve seen in Perth. Brand new and teeming with things for kids of all ages to see and do, its biggest feature is undoubtedly the impressive dual flying fox for children to race each other on. There’s also a wooden maze, logs to walk on, a climbing pyramid, tunnels, slides and wooden musical instruments to tinker with. The playground has been created to blend into its bushland surroundings, with soft, fine woodchips on the ground, muted greens and a sandpit.
Fancy getting amongst it with some monsters? The Rivergums adventure park in Baldivis has a fantastic monster theme to delight both the young and young-at-heart. The biggest drawcard is its towering twin ‘monster cages’ that are linked together by an enclosed chain-mail walkway and are attached to a six metre high enclosed slide. The playground also features giant monster footprints, wood and rock structures to climb and explore, and musical instruments to play. Just perfect for your little monsters.
Rossiter Pavilion and playing fields in Piara Waters have a great naturescape playground for your kids to get stuck into. The area also has three fantastic built-in trampolines that will no doubt draw kids in from the get-go. There’s a massive wooden climbing frame, a messy area that includes a mud kitchen, a climbing wall and swings as well.
Situated in beautiful Byford are the two Ridge Park playgrounds. One is suitable for younger children and features colourful, tactile equipment with a train theme, while the other one has a double flying fox, wooden climbing area and swings and slides for the older children. Both are set among the trees and blend in perfectly with the surrounding estate.
In the heart of the Calleya Estate in Banjup is a playground like no other. Costing a massive $1.8million, it boasts a huge enclosed slide not unlike the ones you see at a water park, unique trampolines and swings, as well as original musical instruments to get the younger ones involved in sensory play.
